Dr. Katsuura is the CTO of Memory Tech, one of Japan's leading developers and manufacturers of optical media, and draws on this standing to chair Mempile's Board of Directors

Starting his career at Kuraray Co., the worlds largest producer of PVA, PVB and Special Polymer Grades, Dr. Katsuura established the company's optical disc business, became the General Manager of Kuraray's Laser Disc business unit and was later nominated as a director and board member.

Dr. Katsuura left Kuraray to lead the development of Memory-Techs world-leading DVD business, was later appointed as Memory-Tech's CTO and has gained significant experience leading Memory-Tech's navigation of 2 consecutive generations of optical storage standards.

Dr. Katsuura holds a PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Tokyo, has conducted theoretical work on Radiation Chemistry at the University of Tokyo, Northwestern University and the University of Notre Dame, and.holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Physics from the University of Tokyo.
